Govt Recruiters Recommend Filling Up Over 4 Lakh Vacant Posts
New Delhi: The Centre is taking steps to fill up 475,000 vacancies posted by government recruiting agencies, Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh has informed the Rajya Sabha.
The minister said that during 2019-20, three recruiting agencies — Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) — have recommended recruitment for a total of 134,785 posts.
Of them, there are 4,399 vacancies in the UPSC, 13,995 vacancies in the SSC and 116,391 vacancies in the RRBs.
Besides, the Department of Posts and Defence Ministry have also commenced the filling up of additional 341,907 vacant posts.
“All Ministries/Departments of Government of India have been advised to take advance action for reporting vacancy position with respect to direct recruitment (DR) posts to the recruitment agencies concerned i.e. the UPSC and SSC, etc. for filling up of such vacancies in a timely manner,” the minister said in a written reply.
“In January 2020, all Ministries/Departments of Central Government have been requested to take time bound action to fill the existing vacancies in the respective Ministries/Departments and their attached/subordinate offices,” he added.
