Govt Schools In Odisha To Hold PTMs For Better Performance
Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha, with the objective to improve attendance and learning abilities of school children studying in government schools, has decided to hold state-wide parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) on January 16, 2020.
The announcement was made by Samir Ranjan Dash, School and Mass Education Minister, here on Friday. He said the move would help involve community and parents in school management.
The responsibility of conducting the PTMs has been given to OSEPA (Odisha School Education Programme Authority) – a body of mass education department, reports TNN. It was last held on June 28, 2019.
According to sources, parents will be informed about the meeting three days in advance. They will be made aware of the academic programmes taken up by the schools to improve the performance of students.
The parents will get to see the answer sheets of their children at the PTM. The respective teachers will provide views on each child so that parents know the kind of help and support their child needs to improve academically.
Parents and teachers will get to discuss the learning process of students at the PTM. Parents will be encouraged to asks questions and clear doubts and also give recommendations on improving the quality of teaching. Members of managing committees of schools will also take part in the meeting.
The school and mass education minister, had earlier informed the media that four parent teacher meetings would be conducted every year in government schools across the state.
