Kolkata: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBSE) declared the Class X results with a cent per cent pass percentage on Tuesday. Also, 90 per cent students secured first division scoring in excess of 60 per cent overall. The results were tabulated according to the alternative method.
The Madhyamik Pariksha (Class X) examination was not held this year owing to the pandemic situation. The evaluation was made on the basis of the candidates’ performance in the 2019 class examinations in Class IX and internal assessment for each subject in class X in a 50:50 ratio.
The WBSE president Kalyanmoy Ganguly said in a press conference that 100 per cent pass of candidates is an all-time record. The pass percentage in 2020 was 86.34.
According to Ganguly, if a candidate is unhappy with the results, he/she can sit for physical tests once the COVID- 19 situation improves.
About 10 lakh students scored 60 per cent or more marks via the alternative evaluation method. As many as 79 students scored 697 marks out of 700.
