Indore: Indore based Indian Institute Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) have come together for the first time to jointly offer a two-year Master of Science programme in Data Science and Management.
Officiating Director of the IIT-Indore, Neelesh Kumar Jain along with IIM-Indore director Prof Himanshu Rai signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in September to jointly offer the online course.
“The thought of utilizing this opportunity was being contemplated for a long time. We had inked an MoU last year in September to share our resources and work towards joint research programmes. I am very happy the thought process has now been executed with the introduction of Master of Science programme in Data Science and Management,” Prof Jain was quoted as saying by The Times of India. He said that Indore is the only place across the country which boasts of both the IIT and IIM.
IIM Indore director Dr Himanshu Rai said the course will be offered in synchronous mode. “We will be offering a Master’s Programme in Data Science and Management in synchronous mode. With a batch size of 200 participants, this programme will provide them with an opportunity to choose electives of their choice from both IIM Indore and IIT Indore and interact with the faculty members from both of these institutions; thereby enhancing their skills and knowledge,” Prof Rai said.
The course has been designed to meet the requirement of the working executives in Data Science and Management.
“Though we are starting the programme in online mode, we are very hopeful that soon it will be converted to offline mode with both the Institutes hosting the executives,” said Prof Jain.
