Hyderabad Girl Selected For London School of Economics’ Flagship Programme

Hyderabad: CBSE Class XII student, Aditi Vittal from Sadhu Vaswani International School (SVIS), Kompally, here has bagged an offer from the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to join the institute’s flagship programme in economics.

Not only LSE, Aditi has also been selected for admissions to other top universities like the University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, the University of Warwick and the University of Edinburgh, reported NDTV.

Aditi has narrowed down her choice on LSE or University of Toronto to pursue her dream to become an economist.

The criteria for selection to the hallowed LSE is quite tough. The minimum requirement is 90 per cent marks or above, with three subjects at 95 per cent or above and two subjects at 90 per cent or above for the CBSE candidates. The candidates also must have a score of 7.0 in IELTS’ first attempt in each section and overall.

Even meeting all the above-mentioned criteria, the candidates are assessed on the basis of their academic achievements, subjects and subject combinations, statement of purpose, teacher’s reference and educational circumstances.

Despite the high academic performance requirement, the prestigious British institution received over 25,000 applications from more than 140 countries. The number of seats up for grabs is 1,600.

Observing Aditi’s inclination, the school principal advised her to join the Humanities and Social Sciences stream after the Class X exams. She successfully completed the Harvard Pre-college program on ‘Great Ideas in Macroeconomics’ and edX-offered online certification course in ‘AP Macroeconomics’.

Aditi was also chosen as a Yale Young Global Scholar for the Solving Global Challenges session.
