ICAI Withholds Student’s Result, Pulled Up By Rajasthan HC
Jodhpur: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has been pulled up by the Rajasthan High Court for withholding the result of a student over her e-mail, which she had sent to them.
The high court ordered the ICAI last week to pay Rs 20,000 to the petitioner and release her marksheet within 30 days. The Rajasthan High Court asked the institute to introspect and ensure proper display of her result on the official website.
Petitioner Risha Lodha had attempted the CA intermediate examinations in January 2021. Prior to the exams, Risha sent an e-mail to the institute and highlighted the COVID situation. She said that if examinations are held, it may lead to an exponential growth in infection cases.
She requested the ICAI to develop online infrastructure so that the examinations could be held online.
Risha was later informed that her result has been put on hold due to “derogatory remarks” she made in her e-mail.
“The Institute will not take any such action and take any criticism in positive stride,” Justice Dinesh Mehta stated in the order.
