The IIT-B signs Mou with its alumnus Mathew Cyriac, Executive Chairman of Florintree Advisors Private Limited, for the purpose
HYDERABAD: Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its alumnus Mathew Cyriac, Executive Chairman of Florintree Advisors Private Limited, to set up the country’s first Global Centre of Excellence on Private Equity and Venture Capital on IIM-Bangalore campus.
It is learnt that the centre will be named after investment banker Tony James. The centre aims to be a global thought leader for research in all aspects of private equity and venture capital, a release issued by IIM-B said.
This is the single largest ever contribution from an alumnus. The IIM-Bangalore is grateful to Mathew Cyriac not just for his support but for his thoughtfulness in contributing to the naming of four classrooms on the campus after the faculty members who had taught his batch, media reports quoted Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore, as saying.
Mr. Cyriac is an alumnus of the postgraduate programme class of 1994.
“The mission is to create an ecosystem wherein academics, practitioners, and regulators collaborate to develop and nurture world-class private equity and venture capital talent. The first-of-its-kind facility will serve as a hub for research, education, and industry tie-ups in the field of private equity and venture capital, where students will connect with the industry leaders, gain hands-on insights, and explore the latest trends in the field,” IIM-B said in a statement.
