IIM Kashipur Launches 2-Week Madrasa Teacher Training Programme
Kashipur: With the aim to connect Madrasas across India with mainstream education, the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (IIM Kashipur), Uttarakhand, has launched a two-week Madrasa Teacher Training Programme. IIM Kashipur, in a written statement, has said that this programme is “in tandem with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the development of Muslim youths to hold the Quran in one hand and computer in the other.”
With this IIM Kashipur has embarked on a journey to connect madrasas across India with mainstream educational administration, management, and pedagogy for the betterment of children studying in the Islamic seminaries.
Maulana Azad Education Foundation, which comes under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, is sponsoring the programme with an aim to instil a sense of modernity among madrasa teachers.
Inaugurating the programme Prof Kulbhushan Balooni, Director of IIM Kashipur, said that – “This programme is just a new beginning to introduce modern educational approaches in the Madrasa system so we can learn from each other and help them to deliver educational services in a more professional way in these institutions”.
The programme’s objective is to incorporate within the existing Madrasa system the latest principles of general education, value systems of mainstream education in a multi-faith nation like India.
The programme at IIM Kashipur will be delivered by IIM Professors and external resource persons from across India. It has three major goals –
- Standardisation of the pedagogy
- Managerial and leadership skills
- Interfaith dialogue
Prof Baharul Islam, Dean (Academics) at IIM Kashipur had earlier launched a similar programme in Northeast India. The programme will be attended by around 50 participants from north and central India in the first phase, reports dailypioneer.com.
It will be followed by a second phase of training at IIM Kashipur where the trainees will come back with improvised plans and programmes for development of their respective madrasas and seek help in project management from the institute.
