IIT Bhubaneswar: Experts From USA, India To Attend Workshop On Rural Resilience

The Three-Day Workshop Will Kick Off From January 7, 2020

IIT Bhubaneswar is organising a workshop in January which will focus on the science and practice of managing the available resources in rural areas efficiently for sustenance.

The three-day workshop titled ‘From Knowledge To Action: A Vision For Resilient Rural India’ will kick off from January 7. It will be attended by resource persons from India and abroad.

They include Dr R Srinivasan from Texas A&M University, USA, Dr Meghna Babbar-Sebens from Oregon State University, USA, Dr Venkat Sridhar of Virginia Tech, USA, Dr Jenna Tilt of Oregon State University, USA, Dr Meenu Ramadas of IIT Bhubaneswar, Dr Venkata Reddy K of NIT Warangal, Dr Nagesh Kolagani of Centurion University, Suresh Marru of Indiana University, USA and Dr Yogesh Simmhan of IISc Bangalore.

The sessions will include hands-on training and applications of stakeholder engagement approaches, Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) for watershed modelling, and a new inter ACTWEL decision support system (DSS) to support community-driven management of food, energy, climate, and water resources in rural watersheds of India, said the workshop notification.

Graduate students, research scholars, faculty members, scientists, engineers and professionals from civil, agricultural, environmental, hydrology and water resources, engineering background including R&D laboratories are expected to attend the workshop.
