IIT JEE Advanced 2020: Change In Exam Format, Syllabus Cut Proposed
New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) plans to reduce the syllabus, change the exam format and review the admission requirement for the JEE Advanced due to the coronavirus pandemic that has upset the education system across the country.
IITs will be putting forward the proposals to the review meeting of Joint Admission’s Board (JAB). Confirming this to The Indian Express, Director of IIT Delhi, V Ramagopal Rao said, “The proposal on the format of exam, syllabus, social distancing norms are up for discussion in the review meeting next week. The decisions will be taken after JAB’s nod and would be for the JEE Advance 2020.”
The institute is also planning to do away with the 75 percent minimum marks requirement for the entrance exams for this year. As coronavirus cases in the country are on the rise, schools and colleges haven’t been able to function fully, which is hampering the completion of the syllabus.
In such a situation, students appearing in the IIT-JEE exams scheduled for January 2021 will also be affected.
