IIT Kanpur To Offer Three New Postgraduate Courses In Cybersecurity; Know Details Here
Kanpur: Three news postgraduate courses in cybersecurity have been introduced by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur besides a dedicated centre for discipline.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of the institute is set to offer MTech, MS by Research and BT-MT dual degree programmes in cybersecurity from August 2021. The registration process for the courses will be held in April-May, reported ABP Education.
According to IIT Kanpur director Abhay Karandikar, the programmes will start with a limited number of seats but plans are there to gradually scale up in size and scope. The programmes have been designed to address the need of cybersecurity personnel, institute’s official statement said.
Highlights of the three courses:
1) The MTech programme in cybersecurity is designed such a way that it will train students/researchers with skills necessary to be successful in job roles such as VAPT (Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing) engineers, security centre analysts and CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team).
2) The MS by Research programme will train cybersecurity researchers, technology developers, cybersecurity strategists and top-level cybersecurity policy designers. The institute will also offer a BT-MT dual-degree option too.
3) A total of 25 seats will be on offer for the MTech programme, out of that, 15 students can get admission through the GATE score /industry sponsorship, and 10 students will be chosen from defence and other strategic government bodies.
4) The MS by Research in cybersecurity programme will have 15 seats on offer. Ten students will be admitted through the GATE score/industry sponsorship, and five from defence and other strategic government bodies.
5) The BT-MT dual programme is only open to IIT Kanpur students.
