IIT Mandi’s 8th Convocation Celebrated In Online Mode

New Delhi: The eighth convocation of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi was celebrated in virtual mode on December 12 and was attended by Padma Vibhushan Dr RA Mashelkar as chief guest, reported Business World Education.

Dr RA Mashelkar congratulated the graduating class of 383 students in his virtual speech, stating that the students were fortunate that IIT Mandi had equipped them with “skills and tools to deal with the challenges most confidently”, and encouraged the reinvention of a “new self-reliant India of our dreams.”

IIT Mandi’s Board of Governors’ Chairman, Prem Vrat, while presiding over the occasion, also congratulated to graduating students, expressing hope that the knowledge, skill and ethos imbibed by the graduating students at IIT Mandi would help them in future.

He added that the Institute had made a mark in “research, collaboration, and international linkages”, and expressed happiness at the success of the academic and research programs despite the pandemic by switching to digital and hybrid modes, and hoped that the institute would continue to “would keep scaling the heights of excellence in times to come.”

The Director’s report was presented by IIT Mandi Director Prof Ajit K Chaturvedi, who also announced that IIT Mandi would be setting up a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) with support from DST in the human-computer interaction area under the “national mission on the interdisciplinary cyber-physical system (NM-ICPS)”.
