Roorkee: Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT-R) stole the limelight among all IITs after a student of the institute pocketed the highest-ever annual offer of Rs 2.15 crore on the opening day of the campus placement drive.
The institute’s previous record was a compensation package of Rs 1.5 crore per annum.
The student, who bagged the highest offer, and the company that offered the money were not named due to an agreement between the firm and the placement cell, reported The Times of India.
The virtual placement drive kicked off on December 1 and will continue till December 15 at all IITs across the country. So far, IIT-Bombay and IIT-Guwahati are at second and third place with the highest annual salary package of Rs 2.05 crore and Rs 2 crore, respectively.
IIT-R has got as many as 653 offers from 77 companies till the placement drive’s second day. Out of 77, there were 14 international firms. Three students of the institute were offered domestic salary packages between Rs 1.3 crore and Rs 1.8 crore. Eleven students’ salary packages exceeded the Rs 1 crore mark.
Accenture, American Express, Flipkart, Zomato, Samsung, Mastercard, Urban Company and PayPal are some of the companies participating in this year’s placement drive.
