India To Replace USA As Top Job Creator In ‘App-Based’ Economy: Study
India created about 1.6 million jobs from the fledgling ‘app economy’ till August this year and it could overtake the US by 2024 as the world’s largest job creator in this sector, said a study.
The study released by the Progressive Policy Institute, a US-based policy think tank, said the US had 2.24 million app economy jobs as of April 2019 and the European economy had 2.09 million app economy jobs as of July 2019.
“However, given India’s rate of growth in app-based economy, the country could become the largest ‘developer population’ by 2024, it said.
App economy is described as the economy which centres around the development of apps for mobile phones and other digital platforms.
