New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed setting up a library in India dedicated to traditional Buddhist literature and scriptures on Monday. The PM asserted that it would be a research and dialogue platform.
The prime minister praised the forum for promoting ideas and ideals of Lord Buddha, especially among the youth during his address at the sixth Indo-Japan Samwad Conference via video conferencing.
“Today, I would like to propose the creation of a library of all such traditional Buddhist literature and scriptures. We will be happy to create such a facility in India and will provide appropriate resources for it,” PM Modi was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
According to him, the library will collect digital copies of all such Buddhist literature from different countries. Those will be translated and made freely available to all monks and scholars of Buddhism.
