Indian Railway Management Service Now Part Of ESE 2025: UPSC Updates Method Of Application
New Delhi: A major development in this context is that, due to the introduction of the Integrated Railway Management Service in the framework of the engineering services examination, the UPSC has reintroduced the facility of extended application for ESE 2025. This is a strategy to help reduce the number of persons to be recruited while giving plenty of preparation time for participants.
Putting the Deadline Down for ESE 2025
Subsequently the introduction of IRMS in the ESE, UPSC has opened a new application session for fresh applicants. The second window will be between 18/10/2024 and 22/11/2024 to determine other candidates who may wish to take the examination. This extension is in addition to the initial application interval, open from 18th September 2024 to 8th October 2024.
Revisions and Correction Chances
Those applicants who applied for the positions in the early round do not need to reapply for the same positions. But they have the chance to elaborate their data taking into account the new addendum into consideration. An edit and correction period has been set from 23 November 2024 to 29 November 2024 in which all the candidate can make changes to their information as required.
Postponement of ESE Exams
It became clear that UPSC has rescheduled the ESE 2025 exams which have longer application procedures to offer adequate preparation time. The revised dates are as follows:
ESE (Preliminary) 2025: 8 June 2025
ESE (Main) 2025: 10 August 2025
Management of Railways in India for its Proper Integration
The Government has now decided that recruitment to the Indian Railway Management Service will be both through the Civil Services Examinations and Engineering Services Examination. Specifically:
Civil Services Examinations will recruit for Traffic, Accounts, and Personnel sub-cadres while Engineering Services Examination will recruit for Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Signal & Telecommunication, Stores sub-cadres. The twin model of recruitment used here ultimately seeks to improve the managerial capacity within the Indian Railways through employment of professional engineers.
Regulatory Updates
It was on 9 October 2024 that the Ministry of Railways made the Indian Railway Management Service (Amendment) Rules, 2024 that gave statutory recognition to the integration of IRMS into the ESE structure. Later on, the new rules and a notice for an increased ESE 2025 were published on 18 October 2024. Candidates are encouraged to go through such documents carefully at lest once before applying to avoid a situation whereby they had complied with the previous requirements only to apply for the new project without checking and realizing that there are new rules governing the same.
Guidance for Aspirants
Prospective clients who first applied under the process between 18 September 2024 and 8 October 2024 should use the new window to make some changes in the initial application if required. Further, the correction window between 23 November 2024 and 29 November 2024 allows the applicants to correct any errors made in their personal details, and other particulars, this removes any inconsistencies in the applications.
The introduction of the Indian Railway Management Service in the Engineering Services Examination is a significant change to be reckoned with since recruitment opportunities for engineers are immense in modernising and developing railways in India. Incase of push back in examination dates or extension of application periods UPSC wants to help candidates transition well and give them enough time to prepare in their new schedule. It is helpful for aspirants to follow the latest updates and follow the changed timeline to the fullest to clear ESE 2025.
