Delhi: Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia has increased tuition fees for the 2025-26 academic year by 16% to 41% across different courses, as seen in a comparison of the latest and previous year’s prospectus.

Jamia Millia Islamia has raised tuition fees while reducing fees for SAARC students and NRI wards to attract more foreign admissions. The highest increase is in the Department of Persian, with fees rising by 41.41% from ₹6,700 to ₹9,475, followed by the Department of Arabic, which saw a 37.15% hike from ₹7,200 to ₹9,875.

However, the foreign language programs, including BA (Hons) in Turkish, also saw a similar 37.15% increase. Fees for foreign nationals and NRI wards in Diploma courses under the University Polytechnic have been reduced.

Similarly, social sciences courses like MA, BA (Hons) in Political Science, BA (Multidisciplinary), and BCom (Hons) now cost ₹9,875 per year, a 32.99% rise.

Meanwhile, Science programs, including BSc (Multidisciplinary), Geography, Mathematics, and Physics, saw a 34.29% hike, raising fees to ₹10,475 annually. Professional courses have also become costlier, with BTech fees rising by 19.04% to ₹19,225 per year and MTech fees increasing by 16.48% to ₹21,375.

Law programs, including LLM (Regular) and BA LLB (Hons), have experienced a 19% fee hike, increasing from ₹15,000 to ₹17,850 per year. With tuition fees rising across all programs, students may face greater financial strain.

Despite the fee increase, JMI has introduced 14 new courses and expanded the use of CUET scores for admissions. This year, 25 programs—including nine undergraduate, five postgraduate, eight diploma, and three advanced diploma courses—will admit students based on CUET merit, up from 20 last year.
