Jamia Millia Islamia Reopens

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia reopened on Monday, three weeks after the university administration declared winter vacation following violent protests against the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act.

According to a university professor, most of the classes reported thin attendance as students preferred to “wait and watch”.

On January 3, the university had issued a circular informing that the remaining odd-semester examinations will start from January 9 for the PG programmes. Examinations for the undergraduate level courses will start from January 16.

The university and its surrounding areas were witnessed to pitch battle between police and agitated people on December 15 over the passage of CAA. Questions have also been raised over the police action and its decision to enter the university hostel and library.
