JEE-Main: Trade Unions Request Postponement Of Jan 8 Exam

New Delhi: The central trade unions have urged the Centre to postpone the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) scheduled for January 8 in view of the planned countrywide strike called by them.

The 10 central trade unions had in September this year announced the general strike call on January 8, 2020 to protest the alleged anti-labour policies of the government.

The JEE exams for admission to engineering institutes across the country begins on January 6 and will conclude on January 10.

“We request you to please intervene in the matter appropriately so that the exam on January 8 is deferred to some other date to ensure that the examinees do not face any problem,” news agency PTI reported on Thursday quoted the letter written to Minister of Human Resource and Development Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.

According to an Indian Express report on Thursday, 9.3 lakh candidates have registered for the exam in January. JEE also acts as a screening test for candidates who are aspiring to sit in the JEE-Advanced for admission to IITs.
