JNTUH, Osmania University Exams Postponed Due To Rains
Due to the severe flooding and flash floods plaguing the city, the exams for Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) students of JNTU Hyderabad and Osmania University have been postponed, reported The News Minute.
Several students have appealed to the government and Minister K Taraka Ramarao to postpone the exams. Sharing pictures of flood-affected areas on social media, students cited their inability to commute to the exam centres amid heavy flooding and rain.
In response to the Minister’s tweet urging Education Minister Sabitha Reddy and JNTUH Vice-Chancellor Jayesh Ranjan to respond to the students’ requests, Jayesh Ranjan announced the postponement of the UG and PG exams of JNTUH, which were scheduled earlier on October 19 and 20.
“All the Principals of JNTU-H constituent and affiliated colleges are informed to note that all the UG and PG regular and supplementary examinations of JNTUH scheduled on 19th and 20th October have been postponed due forecast of heavy rains. The revised date of examination would be intimated later. However, there is no change in the schedule of other examinations.” said JNTUH in an official statement.
Following suit, Osmania University also announced the postponement of its exams that were to be held on October 19, 20 and 21. The OU Controller of Examinations added that the exams scheduled from October 22 will proceed as per schedule.
Following Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) prediction of more thunderstorms and lightning till October 21 for the city, officials on Sunday instructed citizens to postpone travel plans and stay indoors until the situation improves.
