Karnataka: COVID-19 Committee Not In Favour Of Reopening Schools In December

Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Technical Advisory Committee for COVID-19 has recommended the state government to not reopen schools in December. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa is chairing a key meeting on Monday to take a call regarding this.

“After extensive deliberations it was unanimously resolved not to reopen the schools in December,” the minutes of the COVID-19 52nd Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting held on Sunday said, reported Hindustan Times.

According to the recommendations, the COVID-19 scenario will be reviewed in December last week to consider the reopening of schools across the state thereafter.

Chief Minister Yediyurappa and Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar are expected to hold a meeting on Monday with the Education Department and other government officials to discuss the matter at length.

The government has also taken into consideration the suggestions from parents, health committee officials and educational experts, and other stakeholders.
