Karnataka Pre-Varsity Board Reduces Syllabus By 30%

Bangalore: In light of the current closure of schools due to COVID-19, the Department of Pre-University Education Board (DPUE) in Karnataka has decided to reduce the syllabus by 30 per cent for first and second year students, City Today reported.

The reduction in the syllabus will be for 33 subjects. However, all science subjects, whose cut remains unchanged from CBSE directives, will be excluded. Also Carnatic music will be exempted from the syllabus cut as no student has taken the subject for the last two years.

The DPUE director said that the 30 per cent reduction in syllabus for Class XII, which is only applicable for the current academic session, has been decided according to state government orders.

“Members of the textbook committee and revision committee have reported things which can be cut down. Information about the syllabus that has been cut down is available on the department website,” he added.
