Bengaluru: The Expert Committee for Education in Karnataka has recommended an age-appropriate approach to conduct online classes in the state. The committee has submitted a report in which it has asked the government to ensure that no student de-rolls from class due to lack of access to technology for online classes.
The committee has submitted a report called ‘Continuation of Learning in School Education of Karnataka’. Schools have been shut down due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. “When technology is used, no child must be deprived of access to education. There should be no compromise in reaching out to the last child. Every child has to have access to education,” the report stated.
The Committee will also formulate guidelines for conducting online classes. Moreover, the state government had discontinued live classes for students up to the fifth standard. The committee, however, has recommended it in both live and pre-recorded format.
According to media reports, maximum screen time has also been recommended which shall not be more than 30 minutes per session for students from pre-nursery to standard fifth. On the other hand, for students up to class 10, 30 to 45 minutes per session has been recommended.
