Khallikote University Merged With Berhampur University; Staff, Students Transferred
Berhampur: The six-year-old Khallikote University (KU) that merged with Berhampur University (BU) on Friday is now a thing of the past.
According to officials, the regular employees of the Khallikote University will now become the Berhampur University staff while its students will also be transferred to the BU.
“According to the order of the government, we have completed the undergraduate and postgraduate examinations to ensure the transfer of the students to Berhampur University,” postgraduate council chairman of Khallikote University, JP Panigrahy was quoted as saying by The Times of India. He also said that there was no new admission in KU this year after government instructions.
The varsity now has around 90 students and 27 teaching staff in various departments. The now defunct KU’s movable assets have been handed over to the BU authorities, while transportation of furniture and other materials are being done from its existing campus near Kanishi to Bhanja Bihar, said the officials said.
“There will be no problem in accommodating the students and staff of Berhampur University after the merger of the two universities,” a BU official said.
