KVS Extends Deadline For Class I Admissions; Know Why

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has been apprised by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) that the Sangathan has granted an extension of the online application submission date for Class I admission.

The deadline which was March 21 has now been extended till April 11.

The KVS’ submission before Justice Rekha Palli’s bench came in light of a plea in which the parent of a 5-year-old child challenged the criteria of KVS for Class I Admission for 2022-23. Recently, the minimum age of a child has changed to 6 years instead of 5 years.

“In these circumstances, it would be appropriate to consider the matter only after completion of pleadings,” said the bench in an order issued on March 16. The bench listed the matter for further hearing on April 5.

The plea was moved via Advocates Ashok Agarwal and Kumar Utkarsh. The petitioner alleged that the admission criteria of KVS is arbitrary, discriminatory, unjust, unreasonable, violative of the fundamental right to education of petitioner as guaranteed to her under Articles 14, 21 and 21-A of the Constitution of India read with the provisions of the Delhi School Education Act, 1973 and the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, reported news agency IANS.
