Lockdown 2.0: Delhi Govt Seeks DD & AIR Support To Run Classes For School Students

New Delhi: The Delhi government has approached Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR) to get a three-hour time slot for broadcasting classes for school students during the lockdown.

At present, only 68 per cent of the students have access to mobile phones at homes and with the ease in lockdown, they will lose that access too as their parents will go out for work, as per official statistics.

Till the time the schools are opened, airing the classes through DD and AIR will ensure continuity in education. “We have approached the Centre and sought three hours of daily broadcast time on both DD and AIR to broadcast classes for students till the time schools reopen. We have sought separate slots for elementary, secondary and senior secondary classes,” a senior official of the Directorate of Education was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Meanwhile, the regional stations of both DD and AIR are broadcasting virtual classes and other educational content for school students.
