Lockdown 2.0: Over 7 Lakh Kendriya Vidyalaya Students Attend Online Classes

New Delhi: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has involved 32,247 teachers from Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools (KVS) across the country to take online classes, according to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry.  .

With the active number of students taking online classes at 7,07,312 so far, the teachers have been using platforms like WhatsApp, Google Classroom, Khan Academy, E-blog of the Region, Skype and ePathshala, among others to teach students of Classes II to XII.

An initiative by the KVS teachers, the schools will be following a protocol to engage their students in learning through digital modes. This would compensate for the loss of quality instruction time amid the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The teachers are also focusing on the mental well-being of the students during the lockdown. According to a press release by the HRD Ministry, 331 trained counselors have been engaged on part-time contract basis for guiding and counseling of students and 268 teachers are undergoing training for the same from NCERT.

Moreover, till Friday, 2,393 students and 1,648 parents have reached out with their queries at the designated email established in all Vidyalayas. The queries have been answered by the counselors promptly.
