Lockdown 3.0: Colleges Ask Hostellers To Avail Govt Travel Facilities To Go Home
New Delhi: Colleges across the country have asked the students residing in hostels to avail the travel facilities of their respective state governments to head back home as the lockdown is extended till May 17 and the colleges will not be open before August, as per the Centre’s guidelines.
The Centre has been making travel arrangements for the stranded people, and students will also be allowed to travel through buses after being screened for Covid-19. All the respective state governments will be sending buses to certain destinations and only asymptomatic patients will be allowed to travel.
In some places, train services have also been started for the stranded people to travel back home.
Acting on the guidelines of the HRD Ministry, earlier the institutions allowed the students to stay in the hostels before they were shut down from March 16 due to coronavirus outbreak.
Now, seeing the efforts made by the government in evacuating their people from other states, several colleges like Jamia Milia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University, among others, too have issued orders to their students to avail the travel facilities and head home.
