Maharashtra: Students Of Classes I-VIII To Get Promotion Without Exams

Mumbai: In view of soaring COVID-19 cases in the state, Maharashtra has decided to promote all students from Classes I to VIII without any examination. Maharashtra School Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad announced this on Saturday. The decision regarding students of classes IX and XI will soon be made.

“In view of the ongoing situation due to Covid 19, all state board students across Maharashtra state from Class 1st to Class 8th will be promoted to the next class without any examinations. A decision regarding students of class 9th and 11th will soon be taken,” tweeted the minister.

The announcement came after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray indicated that stricter rules will be imposed in the state over the weekend following a massive increase in daily COVID-19 cases.

Maharashtra reported 49,447 fresh COVID cases along with 277 deaths in the last 24 hours.
