Mumbai: Maharashtra teachers’ groups sought more clarity from the state government on holding the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination for class X and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination for class XII.
The exams are likely to be conducted in May-June next year following the disruption of studies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The process for filling of forms has begun for class 10 and 12 students but there is no clarity on the conduct of exams. The department has neither announced tentative dates for the exams nor has it released details on the paper pattern to be followed in the exams. We hope that the paper pattern is not changed because that might lead to unnecessary confusion amongst students,” BJP Teachers Cell member Anil Bornare was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Several parents and schools have been asking for more clarity from the education department over the last few days. The schools said they were unaware of the paper pattern after a 25 per cent cut in syllabus across classes. However, a senior state board official said that the paper pattern is unlikely to change.
“The syllabus and the paper pattern for class 10 and 12 have undergone changes in the recent years and it is thus not expected to change this year,” the official told the national daily on the condition of anonymity.
