Major Dhyan Chand Sports University: PM To Lay Foundation Stone Of State-Of-Art Institute
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut on January 2, PMO intimated on Friday.
The university, to be established constructed at Salawa and Kaili villages of Sardhana town in Meerut, will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore.

The state-of-art university will be a step towards fulfilling the government’s vision of inculcating sporting culture and establishing world-class sporting infrastructure across the country.
The Major Dhyan Chand Sports University will be equipped with synthetic hockey and football grounds, a ground for basketball, volleyball, handball and kabaddi, tennis court, gymnasium hall, synthetic running stadium, swimming pool, multipurpose hall and cycling velodrome.
There will also be facilities for shooting, squash, gymnastics, weightlifting, archery, canoeing and kayaking.
According to PMO’s statement, the university will have the capacity to train 1,080 sportspersons (540 female and 540 male).
