Manish Sisodia Recommends Reduced Syllabus For NEET, JEE Exams In 2021

New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia suggested a 50 per cent reduction in the syllabus for all classes due to the pandemic, also adding that NEET and JEE exams of 2021 should follow the reduced syllabus, reported India Today. Sisodia suggested this in the 57th General Council Meeting of NCERT, attended by state education ministers, on Thursday.

“The current academic session is seriously disturbed due to ongoing Corona crises. The syllabus for all classes is reduced to 50 percent because of the continued loss of school days. Next year’s entrance exams like JEE and NEET should also be based on this reduced syllabus to align with the current year’s class syllabus,” the Delhi deputy CM was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

He further added that in order to give students additional time to study, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) should not conduct class XII board exams before May 2021.

This decision comes in light of the Directorate of Education (DoE) letter to CBSE, which cited under-utilisation of the time of the current academic session due to the pandemic, affecting classroom education since the closure of schools till October 31.
