MBBS From AIIMS: Check Eligibility And Admission Process
New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has revealed details of the admission process for the MBBS course, reported Medical Dialogues.
Interested candidates can refer to the following details:
Course duration – Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree courses will have a minimum duration of five-and-a-half years, with one-year compulsory internship.
Eligibility
1) Indian nationals
Indian students have to be 17 years of age. Those born on or after January 30, 2004 are ineligible.
– Candidates must have passed Class XII or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board from any Indian State, with English, Physics, Biology (core or additional), Chemistry as their subjects.
– Candidates, from either Indian or foreign universities, have to provide documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying exams with the requisite subjects and percentage.
– The minimum qualifying marks for appearing in the entrance exam for General and OBC candidates is 60%, SC/ST candidates is 50%, and for PWD candidates, it is 45%.
– CGPA grades require conversion factor in the application form, which has to be approved from the concerned examination board.
2) Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Non Resident Indians (NRI) have no specific quota.
3) Foreign nationals (Applicable to AIIMS, New Delhi only)
– Foreign candidates need to have secured 60% marks in the requisite subjects in Intermediate Science or equivalent exam.
– For nominations, they have to contact the Indian Mission/Post abroad in their country and the Ministry of External Affairs, & Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
– Indian Government nominated foreign candidates are NOT required to appear at the Entrance Examination.
General admission process
Accepted candidates must join classes on August 1, and July 16 for AIIMS, after attending the Orientation Programme. Candidates admitted after August 31 will be allowed to take the First Professional Examination only with the next batch of students.
List of important documents to be carried
1) Passing certificate of 10+2 or equivalent examinations, with the requisite subjects.
2) Relevant Board certificate showing his/her date of birth and from where he passed his High School exam.
3) Marksheet certificate showing the candidate has secured 60% in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (50% for SC/ST/Handicapped students)
4) Migration certificate from the University/Board last attended by him/her.
5) SC/ST/OBC/EWS/OPH candidates, have to carry the respective certificates issued by the competent authority
