Meghalaya Schools To Reopen From December 1

Shillong: The Education Minister of Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui said on Tuesday that the state government has permitted schools in rural areas to reopen from December 1.  Schools will reopen only for students from class VI onwards and with the consent of parents.

Schools in urban areas will resume normal classes for students of Classes IX to XII, he said.

“The government has also decided that for classes 9 to 12 (in urban areas), we will allow schools to resume their normal classroom teachings subject to the following of SOPs from December 1,” Rymbui was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The schools will resume classroom activities with parents’ consent and attendance has not been made mandatory, the minister said.

“This decision was taken as penetration of online studies is only about 30 percent,” Education Minister was quoted by the agency.

Provisions will be there for students to get a remedial class or a class as the case may be depending upon the school concerned.
