Aizawl: After several students in Mizoram tested positive for COVID-19 after schools reopened on October 16, the state government has decided to again close down schools from October 26.
The Mizoram Education Minister, Lalchhandama Ralte, announced this on Friday, Times of India reported.
The minister said the decision was taken in a meeting with senior school education officials and teachers’ associations. “Students of Classes X and XII will continue to attend classes online. The Mizoram Board of School Education has been instructed to make arrangements so that the students can fill up their examination forms,” he added.
Ralte also said that unless new problems emerge, schools will reopen on November 2.
Earlier, two students from northern Mizoram had tested positive for the virus, followed by eight more on October 18.
