More States Reopen Educational Institutions; Know Details

Cuttack: With the Ministry of Home Affairs allowing states to reopen schools from October 15, some states have tentatively started reopening schools and colleges, while others plan to follow suit in the coming weeks, according to several sources.

Schools in Andhra Pradesh began on Monday, with half-day classes for high school, junior, UG and PG students. Ensuring proper safety protocols, the attendance was 42 per cent in schools on the first day, said Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh.

Following the start of online classes from Monday, Haryana government announced that colleges and universities will reopen on November 16, subject to standard operating procedures and safety protocols. The decision is meant to aid students to clear doubts from the academic staff.

The Karnataka government is also considering a phased reopening of schools, after having decided to reopen colleges on November 17. State Education Minister Suresh Kumar said that various factors such as online classes availability and health risks are being investigated before making a decision.

Schools will also reopen for classes IX to XII in Tamil Nadu on November 16, announced the AIDMK government. The decision came in light of the declining infection rate in the state, according to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
