National Level Competition to Promote ‘BioE3 Policy’ Among Students And Research Scholars Launched

Students and research scholars can take part in competitions like drawing, poster making, essay writing, slogan writing and producing short AV in 1-minute reel format on diverse themes

BHUBANESWAR: In an attempt to popularise the ‘BioE3 Policy’ launched recently, the Government of India has announced a competition to ignite the creative talents of the students and research scholars of the sector.

Dr. Rajesh S Gokhale, Secretary Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India announced the ‘BioE3 Policy Awareness Campaign Competition’ on September 5, 2024 during an event organized in virtual mode by the Institute of Life Sciences (BRIC-ILS) Bhubaneswar. The online competition is organised by the DBT, in association with ILS, Bhubaneswar.

The competition invites biotechnology students and research scholars across India to explore their creative energies in various categories like drawing, poster making, essay writing, slogan writing and producing short AV in 1-minute reel format on diverse themes.

The participants are encouraged to share their outputs on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) and share the link on the ILS website.

“BioE3 Policy, a transformative initiative by the Government of India, promotes biotechnology for economy, environment and employment. This innovative competition is hosted to propagate the message among the key stakeholders. We invite students and research scholars of the sector spanning over the country to participate in this virtual competition,” said Dr. Debasis Dash, Director, BRIC-ILS Bhubaneswar.

The submission of entries will be allowed until the midnight of September 10, 2024. The entries will be evaluated on the basis of creativity and outreach of the messages on social media.

Global Bio-India 2024

While 100 entries will be given e-Certificates, 10 in each category will be given a cash prize. The names of the winners will be announced at Global Bio-India 2024 event, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 14, the organisers said.

Meanwhile, BRIC-ILS Bhubaneswar hosted a Teachers’ Day Lecture which was deliberated by former Principal Accountant General Odisha and former Rajya Sabha member Dr. Amar Patnaik. He advised the scientists and research scholars to delve deep into various subjects and champion the cause of improving lives in the society.

‘Pitch-A-Thon’

The institute which also runs a Biotechnology Incubator hosted a ‘Pitch-A-Thon’ for young innovators & future entrepreneurs in the sector. The jury comprises Dr. B Ravindran, former Director ILS, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Mrutunjay Suar, CEO KIIT-TBI along with Dr. Debasis Dash, Director BRIC-ILS Bhubaneswar.

Participants from various biotech incubators and institutions pitched their innovative ideas at the event. Dr Nivedita Jena, COO ILS Bioincubator, welcomed all to the ‘Pitch-A-Thon’. The faculty members, scientists, research scholars and startup founders participated in various events hosted by ILS Bhubaneswar.
