NCERT Launches Online Diploma Course For Classes 6 to 8 Teachers; Check For Registration Link here

NEW DELHI: In a bid to strengthen teachers’ subject knowledge and pedagogical practices, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has introduced an online diploma programme in the teaching of science at the middle stage.
The programme has been developed primarily for teachers handling science for students of Classes 6 to 8 and is intended to help them improve the domain-specific and teaching skills required at this level.
According to the course details, the programme will support teachers in planning and conducting classroom lessons by providing examples and learning resources that can be used while explaining scientific concepts.
Registration for the new batch will begin on October 12, 2026, and candidates can enrol themselves until November 12, 2026 through the NCERTX learning platform at ncertx.in.
The 40-week programme is scheduled to commence on November 16, 2026, and will continue until August 31, 2027. Candidates enrolling in the programme will have to pay an enrolment fee of ₹2,000.
The course is designed as a MOOC for Science teachers dealing with Classes 6 to 8.
It uses multimedia-based interactive learning material and is structured to take learners from basic concepts to greater conceptual depth.
NCERT says the material can also support classroom teaching, including lesson planning and explaining concepts to students.
Teachers will also have the option of using certain portions of the course material directly in their classrooms to support their teaching and make explanations more effective.
The curriculum will consist of 40 modules, with one module scheduled to open every Monday.
Participants will be expected to complete each module within the corresponding week. The complete set of modules, along with the final examination, will be covered over the 40-week duration of the programme.
Who can enroll for the programme?
- Candidates having Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree and in-service teachers teaching science for grades 6-8 across the country
- Having diploma or degree in education
- Pre-service teachers pursuing their diploma or degree in education
- Any other individual directly involved in science education.

Within a week after making payment, you will receive an ‘Invitation’ email from NCERTX.
Follow the instructions given in the email to complete the enrollment process.
How to go through the course?
Online 24×7- Using a laptop/desktop computer with internet connectivity, the enrolled participant can sign in (using his/her registered email ID and password) to his/her account on ncertx.in platform and access the course. It can be accessed from any place, 24×7 during the course run period.
e-Certificate
On successful completion, NCERT will award an e-certificate for “Teaching of Science at Middle Stage”.
