NEET 2021: Supreme Court Junks Plea Seeking Deletion Of A Physic Question

New Delhi: The Supreme Court dismissed a writ petition that sought deletion of a question in the Physics section, alleging translation error.

The Centre told the apex court that a three-member panel set up for the purpose could not find any discrepancy in the question.

The bench comprising justices DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna observed that since the question is from physics, the court has to follow the panel’s recommendation.

“We would have looked more into it if it was a law paper. But least of all if it’s Physics. We have to draw the line. It would be beyond the remit of this court to indulge in this exercise. The panel of experts has submitted their opinion. We are unable to interfere. We dismiss it,” observed the bench.

According to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, the 3-expert panel formed by the centre included a professor from IIT-Guwahati, one Professor from Delhi Technical University and one from another institution could not find any discrepancy in the alleged question in physics. “The answer is the same whether for the English paper or for Hindi paper,” SG told the court.

The NEET-UG 2021 was held on September 12 and the result was announced on November 1. As many as 15,44,275 students appeared for the examination out of which, 8,70,074 students qualified the medical entrance examination.
