New Delhi: The new national education policy will be unveiled soon, the Centre on Tuesday said.
Union Higher Education Secretary R Subrahmanyam said the policy is going to modify the way the education system is being implemented in the country.
“We are in the very last stages of bringing out the national education policy which will be there with all of you very soon,” he told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.
One of the key outcomes of the policy will be the increased influence of an institute on the surroundings, he said.
As per some reports, the draft policy is expected to be taken up by the Union Cabinet soon for consideration. Minister of Human Resource and Development Ramesh Pokhrial Nishank had earlier said that about 2 lakh suggestions have been received from across the country since the draft was made public.
Key recommendations of the draft policy:
Right to Education Act should be extended to all children between 3-6 years.
100 per cent gross enrolment ratio from pre-school to secondary levels by 2030.
Integrated flexible school curriculum.
No separation between academic and vocational education.
New 5+3+3+4 developmentally appropriate curriculum and pedagogical structure for school education.
National Research Foundation to promote research and innovation.
Professional education should be an integral part of higher education.
Flexible curriculum in the higher education sector, creative combination of study and multiple exit points.
Broad-based liberal arts undergraduate education.
