Bengaluru: National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), an autonomous scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has entered into a partnership with Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education for training students, & faculties in new age technical courses.
Under this partnership, Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (Al), Robotics, Internet of ThingsIOT), Industry 4.0, 3D Printing and Allied Technologies for capacity training and R&D centers at government polytechnic and engineering colleges in Maharashtra will be established.
The state government also can seek funding from Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) through joint project proposal, the institute said in a release.
After establishment of Center of Excellence, NIELIT will execute delivery of training & learning activities for the faculty and students in collaboration with industries.
It will also develop relevant credit course contents apart from providing placement assistance for employment to the students.
Maharashtra has total of 40 government-run Polytechnics. Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education has already established Center of Excellence in loT at six such Polytechnics and Center of Excellence in Robotics & Automation at three Polytechnics.
At remaining Polytechnics, Center of Excellence will be established through the funds made available through this partnership.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology and Chandrakant (Dada) Patil, Minister for Higher & Technical Education, were present during the MoU signing ceremony.
Vinod Mohitkar, Director, Technical Education, M.S., Dr. Pramod Naik, Director, Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Dr. Madan Mohan Tripathi, DG, NIELIT, Abhishek Singh, Addl. Secretary, MeitY and various officials from the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology were also present for discussion.
