HYDERABAD: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will issue softcopies of migration certificates to the students who have passed the Class 10 and 12 board examinations. The move aims at doing away with the issuing of hard copies of migration certificates.
A notice issued by the CBSE recently said that the Board is now providing migration certificates to the Class X students who wish to obtain them, along with their marks sheet-cum-passing certificates after they pass the Class 10 and 12 examinations.
Besides providing the hard copy of the migration certificates to the students, the CBSE also provides the softcopy of the certificates in the DigilLocker of the students concerned.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has already issued a communication to all institutions of higher learning that digital copies of the certificates issued by the Board will be accepted for admission to institutions of higher learning.
The CBSE has decided that from the Examinations – 2025 onwards, the hard copy of the migration certificate will not be issued to the students of Class XIl and the students of Class X. However, a digital copy of the migration certificate will be used by the students for admission to other educational institutions.
The fee charged by the CBSE for issuing the migration certificate along with the examination fee in the LOC will also not be charged by the Board.
During the transition period, in case of any requirement for the hard copy of the migration certificate, the students will be allowed to make the requests to the CBSE only at the official website of the Duplicate Academic Document System https://cbseit.in/cbse/web/dads/home.aspx
Thereafter, the migration certificate will be provided to them as per the request of the students.
The above decisions have been approved by the Examination Committee meeting of the CBSE held on May 24, 2024 and duly ratified in the Governing Body meeting of the CBSE in its meeting held on June 24, 2024, a notice issued by the CBSE recently said.
