NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will not conduct any recruitment examinations from 2025 and it will focus on only higher education entrance exams, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on December 17.

The decision has been taken as part of the examination reforms based on the recommendation of a high-level committee set up by the Central government earlier this year after the alleged leak of medical entrance NEET UG 2024 and a series of cancellations of other examinations due to suspected leaks and other technical glitches.

“The NTA will be limited to conducting only entrance exams for higher education and will not conduct any recruitment exams from next year. It (NTA) will be restructured in 2025 and ten new posts are being created. There will be many changes in functioning of the NTA to ensure there is zero-error testing,” Dharmendra Pradhan said, adding that talks are on with the Union Health Ministry on whether to conduct NEET UG in paper mode or online.

‘CUET UG once a year’

He clarified that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG will continue to be conducted once in a year.

“The government is looking at moving to computer adaptive test, tech-driven entrance exams soon,” Pradhan said.
