Bhubaneswar: Colleges across Odisha might reopen in the New Year, Higher Education Secretary, Saswat Mishara said on Thursday.
“We hope students will attend the classes. The undergraduate and postgraduate semester exams are likely to be postponed. The fail percentage will increase if exams are held on the basis of online classes,” the secretary added.
Earlier on December 4, the Odisha state government had announced that laboratories in universities and colleges across the state can be reopened.
A letter issued by the Higher Education department stated that the laboratories in universities and colleges can be opened only for research scholars pursuing PhD, MPhil and post-graduate students in science and technology streams requiring experimental works.
The department directed that the higher educational institutions must ensure that COVID-19 guidelines are strictly followed by the students and teachers in the laboratories.
The state government has also allowed reopening of medical colleges from December 1 following a Central government directive recently.
