Odisha Education Department Mulls Offline Classes In Clusters

Bhubaneswar: The department of higher education, Odisha, is contemplating starting physical classes in clusters after protests from higher secondary students across the state. The students demanded the cancellation of this year’s board exam as the physical classes were not held.

“Online classes have started to help finish the courses and further steps will be taken so that more and more students can join classes in online mode. The focus is to ensure that students are prepared to appear for the board exam. If required, remedial classes will also be taken,” Higher Secondary Education director, Bikash Mohapatra, was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

The directorate reviewed the infrastructure for classes XI and XII. The district education officers and principals of various higher secondary schools participated in the review process.

The officials also said that the state government is likely to conduct the board examination in offline mode after a fast dip in number of COVID cases. Taking remedial classes was also discussed.

“If required, teachers will conduct offline classes in clusters so that students do not be afraid of appearing in offline board exams,” a senior official was quoted as saying by TOI.
