Bhubaneswar: In order to promote awareness and sensitivity among students in their interaction with the society, the Odisha government has introduced a new compulsory subject, Ethics and Values, in under-graduate course.
Announcing this at a programme, here on Saturday, Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo released the first part of the syllabus. The syllabus for the ‘Ethics and Values’ subject, prepared by the Odisha State Higher Education Council, will be introduced for Plus III courses.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahoo said the new subject, prepared on the direction of chief minister Naveen Patnaik, will not only to help the students in academics but also make them better human beings.
The course to be introduced as a compulsory subject for all disciplines, it would deal with practical aspects of ethics and value systems in the society and help the students take decisions in their daily life.
The syllabus has been divided into 6 units and each semester will have one unit carrying 25 marks each for Plus III course. It has been prepared as an Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course module. All universities have approved the new course in their Board of Studies (BOS).
