Odisha Govt Likely To Increase Plus II Seats In Higher Secondary Schools If Need Arises, Says Minister

Bhubaneswar: With success rate in matriculation examination in the state touching 96.4 per cent, the Odisha government is considering steps to increase Plus II seats in the higher secondary schools to enable students to take admission.

Giving this information on Saturday, School and Mass Education Minister Pramila Mallik said that the government will increase the number of seats in Plus II if the need arises.

Appropriate steps will be taken by the government to give proper opportunities to the students for admision in Plus II, she said. No student should suffer.

Stating that some changes will be made in summative I and II examinations, the Minister said, adding that the government is set to start the process for filling applications for the supplementary examination which will be conducted soon so that a student will not incur a loss of one academic year.

It may be noted here that the pass percentage in the matriculation examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha stood at 96.4 per cent this year as compared to 90.55% last year.

The pass percentage of boys is 95.75 percent, while it is 97.05 per cent in case of girl students. A total of 3,222 schools have registered cent percent results. Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts registered the highest pass percentage of 97.99.
