New Delhi: The Delhi University (DU) has released the tentative date sheet for the ‘Open Book Examination’ for end-term semester exams for the final year students.
According to the DU official website, the exams will start from July 1. The university had received backlash from students and teachers for conducting online exams. In a survey, 85 per cent of students had expressed reservations about the decision.
In a letter released to all college principals, Examination Head Vinay Gupta wrote, “It is felt that the examinations cannot be conducted in the conventional mode as per the existing government norms of maintaining social distancing, and safety and health of the students.”
He also mentioned about students belonging to Jammu and Kashmir and said that to secure their future in absence of proper internet, DU will engage Common Service Centres (CSC) to provide them with better facilities.
“The students will be allowed to use the ICT (information and communications technology) infrastructure resources available with the CSC academy for downloading and taking printout of the question papers, scanning and uploading the answer sheets on the portal. The students can avail these facilities for free,” said Gupta.
The university will also allow students, who fail to appear for the online examination, to take the test in physical mode later.
The university has decided that colleges can allow students, who do not have proper internet connection and other necessary things, to use the Information and Communications Technology(ICT) infrastructure for exams.
