New Delhi: The Parliament has passed the Central Sanskrit Universities Bill, 2020, paving the way for three deemed to be universities to be granted Central Sanskrit University status.
The three institutions to be upgraded are Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (New Delhi), Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (New Delhi) and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (Tirupati).
The Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Monday. The Lok Sabha had passed it on December 12 last year.
Following the passage of the Bill, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal thanked the members for their support.
