New Delhi: A civil writ petition in Delhi High Court sought an order to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other boards to refund the examination fees of the students registered for board examinations 2021.
The petition demanded the boards look for an option to refund the examination fees as the exams are not being held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Advocate and social activist, Deepa Joseph filed the plea. Deepa is also the mother of a Class X student in a Delhi-based CBSE-affiliated government school.
The appeal urged the CBSE and the Union education ministry to consider drafting a fresh examination refund policy wherein fees refund will be granted in unforeseen circumstances like pandemic and cancellation of exams.
According to the plea, the CBSE collects the examination fees to pay the invigilators and examiners or on setting up exam centres.
